This page will serve as a basic how to play guide for Last Oasis. While there is very little information available at this time, we urge you to check back often, as new information is being added all the time! Feel free to edit this guide with any tips, tricks, and suggestions.

Basic gameplay

You start Last Oasis being cast from the Flotilla, having fulfilled your contract and being granted your freedom. The oasis you spawn in is called a Cradle and it is essentially the beginner area and the only areas classified as "easy." After spawning the player is prompted to complete the quests (open with F3). It is highly recommended to complete these quests as they award high amounts of both experience and Fragments.

Undoubtedly, soon after you begin the game you will encounter your first Rupu. They are the main PvE enemy of Last Oasis. Combat with Rupus is fairly straightforward, upon seeing a player the Rupu will perform an aggro animation and then charge at the player. When a Rupu attacks a player an icon will appear showing which direction the Rupu is going to attack from. (This option can be toggled on or off) To block the attack the player needs to have a weapon equipped and hold right mouse button while moving their mouse in the direction the attack is coming from. The player should then either, attack with their weapon from one of the three directions (right, left, and up) or perform a kick with mouse button 4. The kick stops attacks mid animation and cannot be blocked.

When a player is on a walker larger than a firefly (ex: dinghy) approaches a Rupu, there is a chance that the Rupu will perform a jump animation and leap onto the walker's deck to attack the player.

The progression of the game is reliant on the players use of the walkers, the first one being the Firefly, which is constructed in the tutorial quest. The walkers can be upgraded through their storage menus (press q and e to swap between storage and upgrades). After the player has constructed a water storage they are then capable of traversing desert tiles and reaching other Oases. Once a player leaves their Cradle they may never return.

Note: In its current state transferring to the lobby through the escape menu or walking to the edge will protect your walker and inventory but travelling to another tile will prevent you from returning to an Easy map.

Tips and tricks

It is highly recommended that you invest into sickles to harvest plant matter as it provides a significant multiplier to items gathered. This multiplier ranges from 3x to 5x for items like fiber, aloe, and cattails. This multiplier is boosted to 10x to 15x for Rupu vines.

Around the desert there are various monuments that spawn, consisting of several different variations. Most chests and barrels can be opened simply by interacting with them or by attacking them with an axe/hatchet (soft box). The flat wooden chests that require a harpoon to drag are opened by causing the box to take physics damage. The chests that are marked with fire damage are opened by firing upon them with flaming ballista bolts. Check out Desert Lootables if you want to know more about this.
